MODEL 1841 AMES NAVY PISTOLThis
MODEL 1841 AMES NAVY PISTOLThis is an extremely nice Ames box lock pistol, with the desirable date of 1843 on both lock and barrel. The metal is clean, with very strong marks, including N.P. Ames, Springfield Mass., and USN 1843 on the lockplate, and USN 1843 over JCB and P on the barrel. The stock is also clean, with a small oval cartouche on the sideplate area. Dimensions: 12 ½ inches long overall, with the barrel being 6 inches long. Processing and shipping with the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
Overall very good and better, with exceptionally clear marks on the metal. There is a small dent and scratches on the barrel band, and a dent on the wood of the butt. The steel is nicely toned, and there is a tiny bit of pitting behind the bolster. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
