HISTORIC ROOSTER WEATHERVANE, GANANOQUE,HISTORIC ROOSTER WEATHERVANE, GANANOQUE, ONT.An historic rooster weathervane from the old tower of the Gananoque Spring and Axle company formed in 1884 in Gananoque, Ontario. A handmade unique weathervane, crafted in heavy tin with layered feathers on the neck and body and having the original comb and wattles intact. The head is held high with an open beak. The original directionals have four shooting stars above the arms and below are four feathers above interlaced arrows. Weather has taken its toll with some tin loss to the belly of the rooster which causes it to sit low on the post, otherwise in good as-found and untouched condition. A rare historic weathervane. H: 85"; W/L: 42"; D/P: 36". FRANCAIS: Girouette historique d’un coq de l'ancienne tour de la société Gananoque Spring and Axle fondée en 1884 à Gananoque, en Ontario. Girouette unique faite à la main, fabriquée en tôle épaisse avec plumes superposées au cou et au corps et ayant la crête et le barbillon d'origine intacts. Tête tenue haute avec bec ouvert. Les axes cardinaux d’origines ont quatre étoiles filantes au-dessus des bras et en dessous se trouvent quatre plumes au-dessus de flèches entrelacées. Le temps a porté atteinte à la tôle du ventre ou le coq s’assoit maintenant bas sur le poteau, sinon en bon état tel que trouvé. Une rare girouette historique.

The open top is flanked by narrow vertical panels with an arched "hood" framing the top shelf below a detailed cornice with dentil molding. The lower section has a single raised panel door flanked by two raised panels on either side and a cutout base. Substantial single-board pine shelves including the deep serving shelf, nice old patina. Restoration to back feet, otherwise very good condition. H: 82"; W/L: 53"; D/P: 24". FRANCAIS: Vaisselier ouvert de l'Est de l'Ontario avec partie supérieur inclinée et montants à panneaux verticaux étroits, arche d’encadrement de la partie supérieure, corniche détaillée à moulure à dents. The top is affixed with glue blocks and screws from below. Old dark varnished surface on the legs, skirt and top. One drawer slide replaced. H: 28.75"; W/L: 31/5"; D/P: 16". FRANCAIS: Table Sheraton à pieds tournés trouvée en Nouvelle-Écosse, circa 1850, comportant trois tiroirs en érable à queue d'aronde finement alignés, anciens boutons tournés, façades de tiroirs en bois ondé. Le plateau est fixé avec des blocs collé. Ancienne surface vernie foncée. Une glissière de tiroir remplacée.
