A Morris chair is an early type of reclining chair, the design was adapted by The Morris & Company (William Morris), from a prototype owned by Ephraim Colman in rural Sussex, England. EXTREMELY RARE VICTORIAN WICKER MORRIS CHAIR, CA.1898, #6523 in the Heywood Bros and Wakefield Co. 1898 catalogue. Remnants of the old label on the underside. With the original cushions as pictured in the catalogue. Scrolled back with curlicue design. Rolled arm which terminates in scrolled design at the front legs. Adjustable back. 46 1/2" high, 34 1/2" wide, 35 1/2" deep. Shows slight loss to wicker trim on arm. Provenance: Mary Jean McLaughlin Collection.
