ARTILLERY MECHANICAL BANK (UNION) Shepard Hardware Co. designed by Charles G. Shepard & Peter Adams Patent No. D-21 594 on 5/31/1892; cast iron nickel plated round trap. The coin is placed in the cannon (or mortor). The hammer is then pushed back the right arm moves into a horizontal position press the lever and the coin is fired into the fort. The arm of the artilleryman moves up and down signaling the firing of the cannon. Paper caps may also be used if desired. Wear at base (VG Cond.)

Civil War Artillery Shell Jacket Made of typical dark blue wool partially hand-sewn partially machined trimmed with 0.4? red worsted tape per regulations. This specimen with ink stamped cartouche in right sleeve that has been blacked out. Jacket with compete but worn body lining consisting of course woven butternut cotton ticking and thinner white muslin gauze in sleeves. Jacket retains complete suite of 12 brass eagle general service buttons including 4 on collar and 2 each on cuffs and rear pillows. Condition: Very good. Some light mothing.
