ASCENT OF MONT BLANC BOARD GAME, 1861. 19th C. board game 'The New Game of the Ascent of Mont Blanc', by A.N. Meyers Oxford St. London, from C. Adler’s Printing Establishment, Hamburg, hand colored lithograph on paper on linen backing, with original box, 16” x 21”. This game was created in conjunction with the popular Victorian show that ran at the Egyptian Hall in London in the 1850s, created by entertainer Albert Smith, in which he told the story of his ascent of Mont Blanc. The enormously successful show ran for six years and popularized mountaineering in Victorian England.
