11 ASIAN DECORATIVE ITEMS, CARVED FIGURES, BUDDHAS, TRA...Eleven (11) Asian decorative items. 1st-6th items: Six (6) assorted carved Asian figures, including one (1) carved and polychrome painted seated scholar, three (3) carved and polychrome painted scholar figures depicted standing and all mounted onto one rectangular base, one (1) hardwood carved female head mounted onto a round wood base, and one (1) hardwood carved scholar depicted standing and holding a stick, mounted onto a hardwood base. Ranging in size: 3 7/8" H to 9" H. Ranging in age from late 19th to mid 20th century. 7th-8th items: Two (2) Chinese Export figural items, including one (1) turquoise or peacock glaze Buddha figure with gilt metal mounted base having peony and lotus decoration, accompanied by an associated pierced hardwood stand; and one (1) earthenware parrot. Buddha: 3 1/2" H x 3 7/8" W x 3 1/12" D. Parrot: 9 1/2" H x 3 3/8" W x 3 3/8" D. Late 19th to mid 20th century. 9th item: Small Buddhist carved lacquer travel shrine with Chinese characters and floral decoration on the exterior. The shrine opens to reveal a Gandhara-style Buddha, hands in the Abhaya Mudra, flanked by two Bodhisattvas on different panels, all surrounded by attendants. Open: 6" H x 8" W. Closed: 6" H x 3 1/2" W. Late 19th to mid 20th century. 10th item: Chinese or Thai giltwood standing Buddha figure, mounted in a wooden base. Figure: 6 3/4" H x 2 1/2" W. Overall with base: 8" H. 19th century. 11th item: Chinese Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) or Yuan style greyware pottery recumbent sheep figurine. 4" H x 6 1/2" W.
Condition:
1st-6th items:Largest figure with overall general wear and minor paint loss, loss to front central edge. Three small figures with general wear to paint, two with losses to objects in hands. Female head and scholar figure overall good condition with light wear. 7th-8th items: Some surface grime, crazing, and fleabites; bird exhibits losses to glaze, particularly at the base. Hardwood stand with repair to one foot and loss to rim. 9th item: Minute fleabites, wear, and patination. 10th item: Wear, areas of loss, largest 1 7/8" x 1/2". 11th item: Scattered areas of loss, firing flaws.

CHINOISERIE INLAID LACQUER
CHINOISERIE INLAID LACQUER DISPLAY CABINET AND ALTARChinese style hardwood display cabinet, manner of Gabriel Viardot (French, 1830-1906). Flat rectangular top with raised ends above a large glass door having fretwork spandrels and flanked by Asian style gilt metal mounts, and a lower panel with lacquer decoration of an Asian figure in a naturalistic landscape setting. Cabinet contains four red velvet-lined shelves and a velvet-lined back. Glass sides with incised lower panels, all on a base with curved bracket feet and pierced skirt. The cabinet is surmounted by a removable carved altar stand having carved fretwork top above a central carved compartment with carved mask, flanked by two offering shelves. Overall with altar: 63 1/2" H x 30" W x 15 3/4" D. Without altar: 57" H. Late 19th/early 20th century.

Marked with four character mark to underside. 4th-6th items: Three-piece (3) garniture set with quilong and peony design, including one (1) lidded baluster form vase with foo dog finial and two (2) large cylindrical vases. Marked with four character mark to underside. 7th item: Lidded baluster form vase with bird on flowering branch decoration and foo dog finial. Character mark to back shoulder; base with concentric circles. 8th item: Lidded creamer or teapot with figural landscape and parcel gilt spout and finial. 9th-10th items: Pair (2) rouleau form vases with flowering vines throughout. Ranging in size from 5 3/4" H x 4 3/4" W x 4" D to 12 3/4" H x 5" dia. All items likely 20th century except for the lidded creamer. The lidded creamer is likely late 19th/early 20th century.
Condition:
All items with minute scattered wear to surface, including minute fleabites to rims and feet. 1st-3rd items: Lidded vase with loss to lid measuring 1/8" x 3/8", one cylindrical vase with old restoration to underside of base edge. 4th-6th items: Scattered losses to lid, largest measuring 1/4" x 1/2". 7th item: Minor scattered losses to foot. 8th item: Old staple repair to handle and minor scattered surface residue.
