Philad. Patent April 1st 1843. base H25'' shade H7'' (2pcs) Provenance: Estate of the late Francis D. ''Skeeter'' McNairy Savannah Georgia. Property of Judge Mitchell King Flat Rock North Carolina. Other Notes: Judge Mitchell King (1783-1862) was a Scottish immigrant who became one of Charleston South Carolina's leading and wealthiest citizens. In the 1820s he built a summer home in Flat Rock North Carolina. It was at this estate named ''Argyle '' that he spent his final days. Stems/bases with even patination and one column slightly crooked. Well-matched near pair of replacement shades that are of different sizes.
