  CYNTHIA LYMAN MODERN BRONZE OSTRICH SCULPTURE Massachusetts,d. 2007Animalier statue depicting a running ostrich with wings outstretched. Lyman studied in Paris and later with Boston artists George Demetrios and Peter Abate before travelling the world, making numerous trips to Africa and Asia for inspiration. After the death of her husband, Lyman befriended Dover artist Constance Pach who then traveled with her to the Galapagos and South America for further inspiration and animal research. Best known for her work of St. Francis of Assisi in Prouty Garden at Boston's Children's Hospital surrounded by carefully crafted animals. Other works can be found at the Boston Athenaeum, the Maria Mitchell Association of Nantucket, and the Nantucket Life Saving Museum.
