PAIR OF FEDERAL ANDIRONS. American probably New York late 18th century brass. Urn-form with engraved US shield and swags and resting on ball and claw feet. Wear from use. 18''h. These andirons along with lots 968 and 979 descended in the family of David Whittlesey (1750-1825) Washington Connecticut until acquired by the current owner. The iron pin seems to be original. The support leg on one has some damage.
