Oil on canvas portrait depicts the sitter in a Blue coat, three quarter-length before a draped window with his left hand on his hip. "Bethell Robinson, Arm., A Barrister at York, Son of Arthur Robinson by Mary his wife, one of the daughters (the oldest) of Sir Hugh Bethell Kirk of Ellerton, & great, great grand father of Alice, daughter of Bell & Mary Robinson, and wife of George Jackson Lambert of Beverley." notated verso. Overall craquelure with several small older patches verso, minor in-painting at patches. Image 39 3/4" x 49" high, in a Period gilded frame with minor losses 48 3/4" x 58" high overall.
