(2) 1832 ENGRAVINGS OF EARLY REVOLUTIONAY WAR BATTLES, FRAMED Both by J. Baker, handcolored copper engravings, published in 1832, including: "Battle of Bunker's Hill, (June 17th, 1775.)", marked "To the Enlightened and Patriotic Citizens of the United States, this plate respectfully inscribed by their Obedient Servant, J. Baker", along with numbered key identifying individuals; PLUS "Battle of Lexington, April 19, 1775", published by Humphrey & Phelps, New York, also with numbered key. The two are housed in their original lemon gold frames, similar but not identical, under old rippled glass. OS: 19 1/2" x 23 1/2", SS: 14 1/2" x 18 1/2", toned, stained, old repaired tears at bottom of Bunker's Hill. Well worth restoring.

American School late 19th/early 20th c. "Portrait of George Washington Vanderbilt II (1862-1914)" a miniature watercolor on ivory unsigned sight 2 in. x 1 1/2 in. in original frame with inscription. Note: George Washington Vanderbilt II was the grandson of renowned American entrepreneur Cornelius Vanderbilt. He constructed the now-famous mansion The Biltmore in Asheville North Carolina and collected the work of such illustrious artists as Pierre Auguste Renoir John Singer Sargent and James Abbott McNeill Whistler the latter two of which also painted full-scale portraits of Vanderbilt.

American school 19th century portrait of john stuart patterson at sixteen Unsigned, but inscribed "John Stuart Patterson at about the age of 16 about the year AD1828," graphite on paper, tipped into family Bible, printed by Matthew Carey , Philadelphia, 1802. The Bible also contains family photographs, the leather binding printed "This Book was purchased anno domini in the year of our Lord 1805 by Sam'l Patterson. Sept. 25th" and "This book was rebound by Andrew Stuart Patterson May 1901." The Bible also contains many entrees concerning the family history,. 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. PROVENANCE: John Stuart Patterson was born February 19, 1812, the son of Samuel and Mary Stuart Patterson. His family had a business "Patterson & Duncan Dealers in Fancy and Staple Dry Goods, Corner of Main & Pearl St. Cincinnati, Ohio." He married Emily Amanda Ball and fathered three children. He died at Fordham, New York City April 3 1886 and is buried at Maple Grove Cemetery Long Island. Restretched on old stretcher, lined with wax and linen, two periods of restoration, patch verso, retouch to skirt, limited in face, at repairs lower right and lower left, scattered in background; frame with separations and some loss to composition.
