Edward Howard (1813-1904) apprenticed to Arron Willard Jr. at an early age. He was a mechanical genius and received the best training from Willard. In 1842 he made clocks in a small factory at Roxbury Connecticut; the name was Howard and Davis. In 1854 he made watches under the name of Dennison Howard and Davis. The Howard Watch Company later became the Waltham Watch Company.

Clock bottom board has been displaced and re-attached there is no visible rosewood graining on case movement is complete however the clock will not keep running after being started other minor imperfections consistent with age.

The weight is marked ''4'' and the pendulum is engraved. 32''h. Case with original finish and only a few blemishes (the worst are at the top of the dial) the tablets have some lifting and light flaking to the paint but still better than 90% present; retains key pendulum and weight appear original; the right screw that holds the middle tablet in place has split out its hole slightly but not noticeable when the lower door is closed.
