The mask measures 45" high by approximately 16" wide, and it is displayed atop a custom stand that measures 65" high and 9" x 9" at the base. Condition Good condition, noting a few very small holes to the cloth at the back of the head. The beadwork appears to be completely intact across the mask.

The Lega people (or Warega) are an ethnic group of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The masks are used during initiation rites. The Bwami works of art are often associated with proverbs and these proverbs in conjunction with dance poetry and song give wisdom to members of the society.
