RARE LUIGI FABRIS LADY FIGURINE, VENETIANSeated woman; hand painted porcelain; gilt decoration. Extensive floral detail.
Marked, L Fabris. Luigi Fabris is a well known Italian porcelain artist born in Bassano near Venice. He attended the Academy of Venice studying sculpture and was successful in this field. In 1918, following the end of World War I, he moved to Milan where he opened a factory to produce ceramics. He became highly successful and soon his work was being exported worldwide. His factory was destroyed by bombs during World War II in 1942. In 1946 he returned to his home of Bassano and opened a new factory.
