B.L. KELLEY 1987 LARGE BOWIE KNIFE & BEADED SHEATHThe lot features a large, custom made B.L. Kelley bowie knife from circa 1987 in a very clear, Rudy Ruana Bowie Knife pattern. The knife is nearly identical to the 1960’s R.H. Ruana Bonner, Montana 41D M bowie knife. This knife shows a broad drop point blade, commonly referred to as a bowie knife or Texas toothpick, with a fantastic crosspiece made from solid brass with polished acorn like bawl guard ends. The handle is a robust large one piece, hidden tang example with large Elk antler having dark rosewood / walnut spacers and brass pommel end cap. The blade is marked, “B. L. KELLEY 1987”. The knife is paired with a leather hide matched sheath with thick harness leather wrapped hide hide with leather fringes and covered on the front with Northern Plains style glass beadwork with a geometric pattern, Blackfoot / Blackfeet style pattern. The knife is truly a large, heavy and very well made, handmade example with fine sharp edge and nearly identical Rudy Ruana pattern. From a Utah collection. The knife by itself measures 14.5”L overall with a 9”L blade. The guard is 4 5/8”W. The sheath is approx.. 13”L by 6.5”W with an additional 49.5”L belt (from end in sheath around back into the sheath). Total weight together of 2 lbs. 6 oz.
