DAVID BENNETT,AMBER
DAVID BENNETT,AMBER MARESigned,Unknown Year, Blown glass into and caged metal form, 24h x 12w x 20d • David Bennett, born in the Dalles, Oregon, 1941, has an impressive and diverse background. He was Captain in the United States Army from 1966-70. From there he became a lawyer from 1970-95. In 1991, Bennett established his personal glass studio, Bennet Glass, Inc. • He was on the Board of Trustees at Pilchuck Glass School from 1994 through present day. Then from 1998-99, he was President of Pilchuck Glass School. • Artisans have been blowing glass into metal forms for two thousand years. Bennett prides himself in pushing the technique even further. He makes complex forms in glass and bronze that he could not complete in either medium alone. As he’s stretched the technical process of blowing glass into metal, he has had more artistic freedom. His figures are lighter and wilder in their motions, and he’s been able to manipulate the glass around its armatures in increasingly playful ways. Photo by Jeff Dimarco

BENNETT BEAN TRIPLE CERAMIC
BENNETT BEAN TRIPLE CERAMIC SCULPTUREBennett Bean (American, b. 1941). Three-part gilt earthenware ceramic sculpture in abstract forms. Each piece is marked "V. 1025" along the underside. This work epitomizes what the artist, Bennett Bean, is known for - pit fired earthenware vessels, often asymmetrical, non-functional, and fluid sculptural works. He developed a Japanese-influenced style for throwing these bowls, and, since 1983, has applied 24 carat gold leaf to these vessels' interiors.
Height ranges from 11 1/2 in to 14 1/4 in; width ranges from 6 in to 12 5/8 in.
