Size: 11.5'' x 8.5'', 29 x 22 cm (sight); 15'' x 11.5'', 38 x 29 cm (frame). George Biddle was a scion of the historic Philadelphia Biddle family. After being graduated from Groton and studying law at Harvard, Biddle rejected family expectations of a career in law and instead adopted a relatively bohemian lifestyle as an international traveler, experimental artist and writer.

Biddle, Charles (1745-1821), Pennsylvania statesman, served as Vice-President of Pennsylvania (October 10, 1785 - October 31, 1787), trustee of the University of Pennsylvania.
