Two Mark Catesby engravings (British, 1683-1749), both from The Natural History of Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands : "The Crested Bittern", probably a 19th century edition, hand colored engraving on wove paper, plate 14 x 10-1/8 in., modern gilt and wood veneer frame with French mat, lacking watermark, toning, foxing, stain upper right, binding edge at right, edges with chipping, 2 in. tear lower left corner with some loss to paper, 1-1/2 in. tear lower right ; "The Small Bittern", third edition, plate 80, watermark "J. Whatman/1794", monogram in plate, hand colored engraving on laid paper, 14 x 18-3/4 in., modern painted and gilt wood frame, foxing water damage lower right corner, toning at two edges, hinged at top . Water Witch surface wear most pronounced on back Flying Fish missing lid Berengaria missing masts touchup on stern. (Good to VG Cond.)
