HYMAN BLOOM PORTRAIT STUDY DRAWING Massachusetts, New Hampshire,1913-2009Depicts on older man with a hooked nose glancing to the side. Bloom studied with Denman Waldo Ross and Harold Zimmerman, finding inspiration in the rotting figures of Christ depicted by Hans Holbein in The Body of the Dead Christ in the Tomb, and Matthias Grunewald's Isenheim Altarpiece, while also visiting the morgue at Kenmore Hospital in Boston. His works can now be found at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Smith College Museum of Art among others.
