GROUP OF 7 MINIATURE CANNONSGrouping of seven (7) miniature cannons. Includes four (4) miniature cannons with wooden carriages and (3) with brass carriages. One cannon with wooden carriage and brass wheels and brass elevation adjustment marked "C London". Lengths ranging from 10 3/4" for the matching pair of brass cannons & carriages to 5 1/2" length for smallest cannon with wooden carriage. Early to Mid 20th century.
Condition:
Overall very good condition with modern bolt on one wheel of largest brass carriage cannon.

PLANK-ON-FRAME MODEL OF A 50-GUN ENGLISH FRIGATE, CIRCA 1790 HEIGHT 37.5". LENGTH 43.25". WIDTH 18.25". DISPLAYED ON A CONTEMPORARY TABLETOP INLAID WOOD BASE.PLANK-ON-FRAME MODEL OF A 50-GUN ENGLISH FRIGATE, Circa 1790, Hull planked with boxwood, with hundreds of small planks, scaled to the appropriate size and shape, fastened with tiny pins. At the stern, the planks are remarkably well-joined. Beautifully carved beakhead with a figurehead in the form of a crowned full-figured female holding a torch in her right hand. Each side of hull with thirteen large cannon ports with strap hinges that allow them to operate. With the exception of the most forward and the most rear cannon port, there is a tiny hinged door to the left of each, which provides an opening for an oar in the event the vessel became becalmed. Two additional small cannon port doors on the upper gun deck near the stern, for a total outfit of fifty hand-cast brass cannons. Outstandingly carved quarter galleries with carved and glazed windows, fluted columns and a full-body figural pillar. Raised bulwark is planked and has applied moldings. Deck also planked with boxwood. Deck mounted with three nested longboats, each a highly crafted model unto itself. Frigate further detailed with a windlass, a double wheel, spars, ebonized yardarm and lateen spanker, natural finish spars, wood and metal anchors, etc. Meticulously rigged, with properly sized and shaped deadeyes and blocks. Dimensions: Height 37.5". Length 43.25". Width 18.25". Displayed on a contemporary tabletop inlaid wood base.
