Brian Byrn has served as Curator of Exhibitions & Education for the Midwest Museum of American Art (MMAA) foundation since 1981. During this time Byrn has mounted over 350 exhibitions of regional and national significance while assisting in the acquisition of a permanent collection which has grown to over 6,400 works. In 2017, Byrn was appointed Director of MMAA. As a curator, Byrn has served as judge/juror for over 50 fine art competitions and art fairs over the past 30 years, including serving as Judge for Indiana's oldest art competition, the 113th Annual Exhibition, at the Richmond Art Museum. As an artist, Brian Byrn has exhibited his drawings and mixed media installations throughout the Midwest from 1981 to 1997, garnering 15 Best of Show awards in juried competitions. His artwork has been the subject of six solo exhibitions in three states and is found in several public collections including: South Bend Museum of Art (Indiana); Carnegie Center for Art & History (formerly Floyd County Museum in New Albany, Indiana); the Fort Wayne Museum of Art (Indiana) and the Midwest Museum of American Art.
