Lambert clown with tambourine
Lambert clown with tambourine French Jumeau bisque head automaton; the white face painted with the four playing card suits; the body swivels and right arm moves tambourine up and down. Silk costume designed by Eugenie Maria Bourgois shows significant deterioration. Missing earrings, little finger on left hand has been broken and reattached. Significant wear to velvet over base. Left hand and head do not currently move. Overall movement a little jerky. Soiling. Loss to gessoed areas on legs.

ANTOINE BOURDELLE DANCING WOMAN
ANTOINE BOURDELLE DANCING WOMAN BRONZE SCULPTURE France,1861-1929Titled "Le Jeu de Voile," depicts an art deco woman in a diaphanous dress with flowing fabric in her hands in the midst of a dance. Bourdelle started out as a cabinet maker before enrolling at the ?cole des Beaux-Arts in 1876 under artists Alexandre Falgui?re, Juiles Dalou, and Auguste Rodin. From 1893 to 1906, Bourdelle worked as Rodin's assistant, however the two differed and Bourdelle pulled inspiration from archaic Greece and the Gothic. He went on to teach renowned artists Giacometti and Henri Matisse. Bourdelle's works can now be found at the Musee Bourdelle, Harvard University Art Museums, Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Scotland, amongst many others.
