British school, ca. 1845 A delicately rendered pair of miniature profile portraits of a man and a woman, pencil on card with white highlighting and hints of color, each approx. 5-1/2" x 4-5/8", framed in gilt period frames under rolled glass overall approx. 6-1/2" x 5-5/8". The man's portrait is unsigned, and the woman's portrait is signed "Margaret Dymond" and dated 1845. Each has a vintage label on the back from Scott, Heydon, & Co., London.

Note: Jean Sylvain Bailly was the Mayor of Paris from 1789-1790. He was executed on November 12, 1793 by guillotine during the Reign of Terror.
