US 1860 CAVALRY SABER & SCABBARD BY
US 1860 CAVALRY SABER & SCABBARD BY C. ROBY, DATED 1863...A very fine 1860 Roby cavalry saber, in its original scabbard, with a beautiful leather and wire wrapped grip. The saber is complete and original, but may have been arsenal refurbished after the Civil War, as the guard has been nickel plated, as has the scabbard, although the blade is well marked and very clean steel. The pommel is marked “M” on the top. The blade has C. Roby, Chelmsford Mass. on one side, and AGM, US, 1863 on the other. The scabbard drag has AGM and the number 3. Other than the nickel plating, this is a perfect example of the 1860 cavalry saber. Dimensions: 42.5 inches long overall, with the blade being 35 inches long. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
Excellent overall. The grip leather shows very minor wear. The grip wire is 100% intact. The blade is clean and nice, with two tiny fleabite nicks to the cutting edge.
