- 1859 SHARPS PEPPERBOX PISTOL, .22
1859 SHARPS PEPPERBOX PISTOL, .22 SHORT A four-barreled pepperbox designed by Christian Sharps which saw huge popularity in the 19th Century. The firearm features four blue barrels in a box formation with a simple bead front sight mounted in a bronze frame with brown carved grips with scrollwork designs. The firing pin is mounted to the hammer and works on a ratcheting system to rotate the pin each time the hammer is cocked, allowing the barrels to be fired in a clockwise sequence. This particular pistol is in fair condition with about 50% of the bluing remaining on the barrels as well as some pitting near the muzzles. The rifling in the barrels is present though faded with some frosting. The patent and makers marks on either side of the frame are both heavily worn on the top half with the Sharps name almost completely removed. The frames have also gained a dark patina over the years with some of it scratched and worn off. No mechanical issues found.
