Photograph of an ID'd SC Confederate Sharpshootercirca 1900 this late Victorian enlargement of a Civil War period image is inscribed ''James A Thomson / Confederate Vol.'' in the lower right field and is presented behind glass in its original carved oak frame. The sitter was Corporal James Allen Thomson Co. ''C'' Palmetto Sharpshooters. He enlisted on June 7th 1861 serving until mortally wounded at Wauhatchie Tennessee on October 29 1863. Thomson's uniform is consistent with those depicted in known portraits of South Carolina riflemen.SS 19.5 x 15.5 in.; DOA 26 x 22 in.The image has not been examined out of the frame which has been professionally restored.
