During the summer months the academy operated at "Audubon Woods" in St. Francisville LA. The two paintings by Clarence Millet offered here as lots 362 and 363 (following page) depict scenes at the bucolic Audubon Woods. As the 1940 brochure advertising the camp states: "The Camp is located in one of the most picturesque spots in the South. The rolling landscape plantation homes negro shacks and bayous inspire the artist and student alike. Living quarters are comfortable and uniquely located in the heart of a pine woods where the weather is cool and invigorating on the hottest days." Among the visitors who signed the guest book from 1939 are Clarence Millet Morris Henry Hobbs and Louise Sarrazin.
