Catawba Valley, N.C. jug, chamber pot: ovoid half-gallon stoneware jug, three rings at neck, olive green glaze, 8-3/4 in., scattered small chips on edge of handle and at base, several surface scratches; chamber pot, medium brown glaze with scattered rutile, 6-7/8 in., three rim chips, attributed to Catawba Valley, North Carolina, mid 19th century, possibly Sylvanus Hartsoe, late 1800s. Very fine inlaid North Carolina table, figured walnut with yellow pine secondary, line inlaid top, dovetailed drawer with stylized tree and line inlay, bellflower, dot and line inlaid tapered square legs, attributed to Catawba River Valley, Piedmont, North Carolina, 1800-1810, 29-3/4 x 17-1/4 x 21-3/4 in. Refinished, sun fading, scattered stains to top, brass pulls possibly replaced (no plugged holes), some later bracing on interior for drawer, other minor abrasions and flaws. Collected by consignor's grandfather, 1930s or 1940s.

Highly inlaid North Carolina table, walnut with poplar and yellow pine secondary, line inlaid top, dovetailed drawer with stylized tulip and line inlay, bellflower, dot and line inlaid tapered square legs, attributed to Catawba River Valley area of North Carolina, 1800-1810, 29-1/4 x 20-1/4 x 25-3/4 in. Refinished, sun fading, top reset and scraped down with some unevenness and staining (possibly burn damage), line inlay on top probably restored, probably original brass pull, drawer aperture cuts through mortises but appears to be original material, other minor repairs and restorations. Collected by consignor's grandfather, 1930s or 1940s.

6 PCS. NATIVE AMERICAN CATAWBA POTTERYGroup of six (6) Catawba Native American pottery forms. 1st item: An early jar with Chief effigy head handles, unsigned. Note: A McKissick Museums letter included with the lot states that the early Chief effigy jar was purchased between 1920-1922 from Catawba women in South Carolina who were selling pottery door-to-door. Early 20th century. 2nd item: Bowl with Chief effigy head handles, unsigned but attributed to Martha Jane Harris. Early 20th century. 3rd-6th items: One (1) small bowl with crimped rim, unsigned; one (1) small pitcher, unsigned; one (1) small round bowl with tripodal feet, unsigned; and one (1) small footed dish with shaped rim, signed "Louis Bryan, Sept. 1976". 3rd-6th items: Second half of the 20th century. All six (6) pottery objects range in size from 2" H x 2 1/2" dia. to 9" H x 9 1/2" W.

Condition:
Effigy jar with chipping and losses to noses, minor wear, losses and scratching to glaze. Effigy bowl with chip to rim, fleabites and losses to effigy heads, light scattered scratching to glaze. Tripodal bowl with chips to rim. Ruffle rim bowl with chipping to rim, scattered surface wear. Pitcher and small dish overall good condition.
