Remarkable Sixth Plate Daguerreotype of a Heavily Armed Trapper Anonymous sixth plate daguerreotype of a trapper or hunter striking a resolute pose. Dressed for winter he wears a heavy wooljacket and fur cap. He displays a full stock percussion rifle for the camera and is further outfitted with Colt model 1849 pocket revolver knife belt axe powder horn and fine leather hunting pouch. Strapped to his back is a large bundle of furs or fur-wrapped bedroll. Housed in a full leather case separated at the spine. Found recently in North Carolina. A stunning image. Condition: Solarization at mat edges. Two small circles of discoloration centered on the gold tinting on the buckles of the trapper's belt and strap.
