Cesare Lapini (Italian 1848-1893) Italian Maiden Marble signed at base of sculpture with inscription Galleria Frat: Lapini Firenze (translated Brothers Gallery: Lapini Florence) and also includes a green marble pedestal; marble ht. 43 in. marble and pedestal ht. 77 in. Condition: The sculpture has several small little cracks with associated discoloration throughout. Also two large hairline cracks each about 6" long. One is located across the chest and the other is on the upper thigh. The stand has several cracks on the top part and several chips at the bottom of the central column.

Boncalli (Italian, early 19th Century) A portrait miniature, oil on ivory, of an Italian beauty wearing coral jewelry and ornaments, signed at the right edge, inscribed at the left edge, approx. 2"D, set into the lid of a tortoise shell box, approx. 2-1/2"D x 5/8" with a gold tooled bezel and with gold ornaments inset in the lid and sides. The inscription is "mia dono a te per esser sempre tua" or "...my gift to you will always be yours..." The sitter bears a strong resemblence to Maria Anna Elisa, grand duchess of Tuscany, sister of Napoleon Boneparte. Provenance: Purchased from The Norton Galleries, 1975
