The case is raised on four spindle turned supports resting on the 'seat', surmounted by a pierced ormolu pediment. The chain driven movement with verge escapement, striking the hour on a central mounted bell, housed within a painted tole case with hinged side panels. Mechanism untested at the time of cataloguing. Seated on the base is a figure of a bewigged gentleman holding a spade and a branch. on the other side of the base his hat sits atop a large watering can. There are two turned posts at the back of the base. The works are visible through a domed glass door at the back engraved with "Fremy"..." A Paris".
