HEYWOOD BROTHERS AND WAKEFIELD COMPANY WICKERmirrored dressing stand/vanity with lady's reception chair, 1898. Vanity table consists of an oval oak beveled mirror, curlicued trim, ebullient harp, golden oak shaped top. A single drawer with key and brass hardware, elaborate beaded cabriole legs. It has an original natural finish. Mirror can be detached for easier shipment. The piece is featured in Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company 1898-1899 illustrated catalog number 6445. 69" high, 29" wide, 18" deep. Excellent original condition, no visible breaks or losses. Along with Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company lady's reception chair. Features a heart shaped back with beaded trim, oak frame with caned seat. Natural finish with some green and brown polychrome paint highlights. 39" high, 16 1/2" wide, 15" deep. 16 1/2" seat height. Good overall condition, shows several areas of old repairs on caned trim and birdcage trim. Old label remnants on the seat frame. The piece is featured in Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company 1898-1899 illustrated catalog number 6018A. Provenance: Mary Jean McLaughlin Collection. Featured in the Smithsonian exhibition at the Renwick Gallery in August, 1993. Literature: Rizzoli Book on American Wicker by Jeremy Adamson, p. 127. Desk featured in American Heritage Magazine, May/June 1993, p. 33.
