Descended in the Nancy Jones family of Wake County, North Carolina. The historic Nancy Jones house is located just west of Cary in Wake County. The house is believed to have been built around 1803 by Nathaniel Jones, father-in-law of Nancy Jones. Henry Jones (1766-1841) married Nancy Ann Jones (1783-1876) in 1813. Henry Jones was a farmer with a sizable estate of 2,000-acres and upwards of 30 slaves. He and his wife Nancy operated a stagecoach stop and tavern out of their house in the 19th century. By popular legend, the Jones house was the site of an 1838 meeting between the governors of North Carolina and South Carolina at which the famous words "It's been a damn long time between drinks" was spoken. The house is now in the National Register of Historic Places. The lot is accompanied by extensive notes on the house and family genealogy.
