THE BOSTON CHRONICLE, AUGUST 17-21, 1769 Original issue of THE BOSTON CHRONICLE, Vol. II, #34 (Boston: John Mein and Fleeming, 1769) folio; leading with an expose on violations of the Boston merchants' recent non-importation agreement, particularly by John Hancock and others; various other correspondence, and a few advertisements. Mein was a Scottish immigrant and ardent Loyalist. In October, the newspaper office was sacked by Boston patriots and Mein fled to England. This was the first semi-weekly newspaper printed in New England.

Newspaper Accounts of the 1871
Newspaper Accounts of the 1871 Chicago Fire Including Accurate Map of the Burnt District of Chicago Lot of 4 including:The Indianapolis Journal Monday Morning October 16 1871 featuring on the front page An Accurate Map of the Burnt District of Chicago.And three issues of the Peoria Daily Transcript: Tuesday Morning October 10 1871; Wednesday Morning October 11 1871; and Thursday Morning October 12 1871.? The first was printed while the fire was still burning and the others update the sketchy information regarding it with the disclaimer The Chicago calamity has disarranged all our newspaper and telegraphic communication and the report The Chicago Journal extra issued on Tuesday afternoon says that it seems to be pretty well authenticated that the great fire was caused by a cow kicking over a lamp in a barn where? a woman was milking her.? That cow has surely secured a place in history and will go down to posterity as the immediate author of the greatest calamity of modern times. Condition: Folds scattered minor stains and edge wear.

ORIGINAL DAILY NEWSPAPER COMIC STRIP ART FOR DICK TRACY...Gould, Chester. Original Daily Newspaper Comic Strip Art for Dick Tracy. Chicago Tribune, April 13, 1977. Pen and ink on artist's cardstock. Depicting the strip's iconic titular character during the short timespan in which he was shown sporting a moustache, at a police press conference philosophizing on the ruinous life consequences facing any would-be lawbreaker: "You see, after a first offense, a criminal walks in the shadows. The shadows get darker and darker till he reaches the spotlight at the showup." Framed and matted to an overall size of 9 _ x 21". Faint original editorial annotations, else fine.
