RARE JIZHOU TORTOISE SHELL GLAZED CHICKEN-HEAD EWERRare Jizhou Tortoise Shell Glazed Chicken-Head Ewer. The compressed globular body mounted with a chicken head spout on the shoulder with a tubular handle attached to a flared rim on the opposite side, applied overall with a dark brown glaze suffused with caramel colored splashes in imitation of tortoiseshell, 9 in high. Provenance: Formerly the collection from a Vancouver, Canada estate.

Early American Patriotic Painted Drum Ca 1795. 15.75'' height x 16'' diameter. Void of maker's label. Black stenciled letters Liberty and initials AJF. ''Chicken head'' eagle with patriotic shield. The eagle is clutching a 16-star American flag in one talon and olive branches in the other. Body of drum is secured together at the seam with rivets. Condition: Very good. Batter head has a large tear across it. There is a 14'' tear that has been stitched together intersecting the main tear. Head is stenciled ''E.C.'' Leather snares are present.
