  A Figural Gas Cigar Lighter In the form of a cast metal child holding up a nozzle, mounted on a square wood base, overall 12-3/4"H. It has another metal tube projecting from the side of the base approx. 1-7/8"L. Written on the underside is "Plappert Tobacco Store...East Exchange...torn down 1930." This would have been attached to the gas in a tobacco store; probably had a glass globe on top at one time.

  A Silver Figural Cigar Lighter Standing approx. 6"H x 5" x 5" the highly decorative oil spirit lamp has a young woman wearing a Turkish costume seated on a cushion with a hookah at the top. Below the cushion is an undulating base with the engraved initials "N", "J", "G" and the date 1858, marked with the French hallmark Mercury for 800 silver. Weighs approx. 8.80 troy oz. Below this is a two-tiered base with circular openings and four curving feet. Underneath is a well to contain the lighter fluid. Various foliate patterns adorn the surfaces for an ornate and exotic effect.
