American and Continental, early to mid 20th century, sterling silver. Ten (10) pieces including Gorham baby cup and S. Kirk & Son: six cups including two sterling julep cups by Mark J. Scearce of Shelbyville, KY one of which is monogrammed MBW III for Mahlon Brookings Wallace III (1934-2019), a small 1933 Le Blond trophy cup from Camargo Club, Cincinatti, OH; a John Hord Armstrong III porringer; a small Towle dish, and an intriguing sugar and creamer trophy award from the 1943 Labrador Retriever Club in which the winner, a dog named Whitebridge Wally, was handled by Mahlon Wallace Jr. A New York Times article highlighted the victory.
"EAST ISLIP, L.I., Nov. 20 -- From out of the West came a golden retriever to shatter all precedent today in the history of the Labrador Retriever Club. At the conclusion of the annual field trial meeting of that organization, Gerald M. Livingston presented his own President's Trophy to Mahlon B. The Wallace Estate: Lee Renfrew Wallace and her husband Mahlon Brookings Wallace III lived an extremely happy and luxurious life filled with world travels, safaris, collecting, and philanthropy. From backgrounds in race-horse breeding and championship cattle ranching, the socialite couple paid homage to the St. Louis area community in a variety of ways.
Mr. Wallace served as Director of Commerce Bank, President of the St. Louis Zoo Friends Board, and was charitable to numerous organizations he believed in. Behind every great man is a better woman, and his wife Lee was renowned for being the glue of the family while she warmly served as Director of Development for local educational institutions and made an impact with her lasting spirit. The couple’s art collection ranges in style and period and spans a broad price-point.

ISSUED IN CINCINATTI, OHIO. 1864, [Americana/ Ephemera] printed broadside of the "Rules and Regulations for Leasing Abandoned Plantations and Employing Freedmen." Issued in Cincinnati, Ohio by William Proctor Mellen, February 8, 1864. With sample "Form of Lease" agreement with twenty-four stipulations for leasing plantation land to Freedmen, defining a fixed wage system for laborers and setting limits on the size and number of abandoned plantations an individual may rent.
