JAPANESE BRONZE FIGURAL KORO OR CENSER Japanese bronze figural koro or censer, having a lid depicting a monk seated on a rocky outcropping holding up a rabbit or mouse to heaven, the lid set upon a bulbous censer scattered with with relief molded flowers on a diapered ground, the censer flanked by U shape handles and rising on three legs having taotie masks and ending in scrolling feet, the whole with vestiges of gilt. Approximate dimensions: h. 20.75", dia. 8.5".

The pool into which she gazes is lit with an electric fixture concealed underneath a cerulean blue plate of glass.
