  MEISSEN (MARCOLINI) PORCELAIN FLOWER-ENCRUSTED CLOCK STANDMEISSEN (MARCOLINI) PORCELAIN FLOWER-ENCRUSTED CLOCK STAND, circa 1770, blue crossed swords, star and 11 mark, based on a model by Johann Joachim Kaendler, in the Rococo taste, of shaped rectangular form, the top with a stylized relief-molded rosette, the front centering a bouquet within a shell-molded cartouche, the four scroll feet applied with entwined flowers, w: 10 in. Provenance: Property of a Washington, D.C. Estate Literature: For an example of this form with the corresponding clock, see Bonham’s London, 22 July, 2020, lot 103. Here noted that Kaendler’s work records of July 1766 included an order for the present form. Based on a gilt-bronze prototype, the porcelain order was commissioned for the Chevalier de Saxe, the illegitimate son of Augustus the Strong and Fuerstin Lubomirskahe.
