AFRICAN 17PC TEXTILE GROUP INCLUDING CLOTHING, GRASS CLOTH, MATS, HATS AND HANDBAGS. 76"H X 18"W (CREAM AND BLACK STRIPED GRASS CLOTH)African 17pc textile group including clothing, grass cloth, mats, hats and handbags., women's woven under skirt; women's black cream and pink checked under skirt; bolt of black, white, yellow and red plaid cloth; two lined and embroidered handbags; three hats with geometric designs; cloth headscarf; bark cloth and woven grass cloth and mats with geometric designs. Provenance: from Taylor University's Mabel P. Michel Collection. Proceeds benefit Taylor University endowed scholarship funds. Mabel was born in 1904 on a farm near Cresco, Iowa. She served as a missionary to Mozambique from 1930-1973, including furloughs under the Women's Foreign Missionary Society. During vacations she taught classes to girls in the villages and did some traveling to many places in Africa, including Rhodesia, Congo, Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Egypt. POWELL (A) A DANCE TO THE MUSIC IN TIME a set of twelve first editions complete from A QUESTION OF UPBRINGING clipped d.j. 1951 through to HEARING SECRET HARMONIES 1975 the other eleven all in unclipped d.j.'s and all Heinemann Estimate ?700-1 000 A Question of Upbringing - clipped jacket spine with a slight curve dust jacket generally worn around all edges with some chipping and freying to corners and top of bottom of spine light creasing and lightly browned a few fox marks internally some fox marks but essentially fair. Red cloth essentially ok. A Buyer's Market - unclipped d.j. light rubbing to all edges and lightly grubby but not as severe as the previous book again with chipping to top and bottom of spine and three tears to bottom of spine going up to about 1.5 inches cloth fairly ok just a little grubby and a slight water mark along the top edge internally lightly browned otherwise ok. The Acceptance Word - unclipped d.j. slightly grubby and slightly faded on the spine again with wear along the top edge with some small little tears and chipping bottom edge better small chip to the bottom of the spine cloth much better just very nominal wear internally lightly browned. A Ladies Molly's - unclipped jacket lightly faded on spine again a little worn along top of d.j. but not as bad as the other three books slightly grubby internally fairly clean. The Valley of Bones - unclipped jacket jacket with minor wear to top and bottom and a couple of slight little scratches. Cloth clean and bright internally odd very minor fox mark here and there otherwise good. Soldiers Art - unclipped d.j. light wear around edges of jacket with slight fading to the spine cloth good internally fairly clean. Military Philospher's - d.j unclipped spine slightly browned minor wear to edges of jacket cloth lightly bumped essentially ok internally clean. Books Do Furnish a Room - unclipped d.j. minor wear to top and bottom of spine and slight browning to the spine cloth bumped top and bottom of spine and corners internally fairly clean. Temporary Kings - unclipped d.j. light browning to spine on jacket and fairly minor wear to edges cloth with a couple of minor blemishes. Hearing Secret Harmonies - unclipped d.j. lightly browned on spine and lightly bumped around the edges cloth with one slight blooming mark and light wear to edges internally with little bit of browning but essentially clean. Cloth with some damp spotting internally fairly clean. The Kindly Ones - unclipped d.j. lightly browned on spine couple of small tears and light wear but otherwise good.
