CAST IRON BOX STOVE PLATE, CORNWALL FURNACE, PA. 3rd quarter 18th century: a decorated side panel with oven opening (no door present), bearing the names of Curttis and Peter Grubb and their ironworks in Lebanon Co., Pa.; 24 1/2 x 30 1/2 in. The Grubb brothers inherited the factory from their father in 1755. They were both officers in the Continental Army in the Revolution and contracted with the army to manufacture cannons and balls.
