MEMPHISGrouping of sterling silver and coin flatware, 23 pieces. 1st group: Sterling silver flatware, mostly vintage Gorham patterns, consisting of 9 dinner forks, 7 cream soup spoons, 2 teaspoons, and 2 demitasse spoons, 3-3/4" L to 7-1/2" L, 24.685 total oz troy. 2nd group: Three coin silver spoons including 2 Merriman tablespoons with tipt ends (attrib. James E. Merriman, working Memphis 1841-47 with Frederick H. Clark and from 1847-1860 and later on his own and in partnership with others), script monogram, 7-3/8" L and 1 G.A. Jones (Ohio, mid 19th century) tablespoon with reverse tipt end, script monogram, 8-3/4" L. 3.665 total oz troy.
Condition:
1st group: Dinner forks with monogram. 2nd group: Fleabites on bowls of coin spoons.

Includes: Whiting Ice Cream slice in the Oval Twist pattern (c. 1880) with elaborate 3 part monogram to blade; 1 Gorham Cluny pattern ladle (circa 1883), 7-1/4"L, 1 coin silver ladle or berry spoon (circa 1865) with shell bowl and engraved handle, marked Coin with horse/chevron pseudohallmark and P. Fries retailer mark, 8"L; 1 Gorham Colonial pattern cake knife (circa 1885) with engraved blade, 10-5/8"L; 3 Tiffany Broom Corn pattern teaspoons (Moore directorship mark); and 3 Tiffany Chrysanthemum pattern teaspoons (Moore directorship mark). 21.01 oz troy.

All pieces in very good condition.

6 CALHOUN NASHVILLE SPOONS PLUS 6 FORKS12 W. H. Calhoun coin flatware items - 6 coin silver teaspoons with fiddle tipt handles, marked "W.H. Calhoun Nashville" (incuse marks, some double-struck), monogram LBW, 5-3/4"L, circa 1855, and 6 forks with threaded pointed oval handles marked "W. H. Calhoun" (incuse retailer mark) with additional pseudohallmark mark P-star-S for maker (Polhamus & Strong, working New York, 1859-1863) and monogram A.A. Page, 7-1/2"L, circa 1865. According to Tennessee Silversmiths by Benjamin H. Caldwell, Jr., William Henry Calhoun made and later retailed silver in Nashville from 1835 until his death in 1865 and was perhaps Nashville's most prolific silversmith. Combined weight 13.99 oz troy. Provenance: the collection of John Montague, Memphis, Tenn.

Very good condition with minor small dents to spoon bowls.
