NEW ENGLAND MILITIA MUSKETA very handsome New England militia musket, with a slightly fish bellied stock, steel mounts, and the number 88 on the barrel. There is a maker’s name on the lock plate, which includes the letters AS, another letter that is not legible, and then an E, as well as a few other illegible letters. There is a bayonet lug, and the bore is 80 caliber. The mounts are all steel, which is unusual, but strongly suggests all Colonial manufacture. The ramrod is steel. Dimensions: The barrel is 41.25 inches long, and the gun overall is 58 inches. Processing and shipping within the U.S. $105.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
There is a repaired crack at the wrist, and the fit of the lock is uneven. The metal is all brown. There are patches of red rust on the side plate, and on the side of the barrel, and on the faceted pan.
