Classical gilt and eglomise banjo clock Zacheus Gates Charlestown and Harvard Massachusetts circa 1800-20 eagle finial above painted dial ahead of eight-day weight-driven movement reverse-painted glazed throat and tablet door above fluted bracket base. H41'' W10 1/2'' D3 3/4'' Provenance: Aiken South Carolina collection. Panels intact white ground reverse painting on lower panel is flaking and peeling. Lacking key all other parts appear to be present. Cannot get to the mechanism because the dial is attached in a way that is preventing us. We don’t guarantee that clocks work once they leave the gallery.
