US WWI M-1904 Saddle and
US WWI M-1904 Saddle and Accessories This is an a original US McClellan saddle seat restored around 1980 to replicate the M-1904 pattern Cavalry saddle. The work was done by Hank Kluin of Burgess and Company Red Bank N.J. Hank passed away at an early age about two years ago; he was considered the premier Cavalry equipment historian and leather smith. His items are truly tomorrow's museum pieces today. He made all the accessories for this saddle. He made the 1904 saddle bags and stir-ups girth all straps and earlier officer's valise with brass eagles. Condition: Excellent.

Maker's name is stamped in the saddle in three places the pommel region and both fenders. Ornate crisp lozenge and floral tooling throughout. Near side of saddle is stamped 20 in two different locations. Condition: Excellent. Right side wood stirrup has a 6'' crack along the side.

1940'S SILVER MOUNTED SHOW SADDLE & TACK WITH MATCHING ACCESSORIES BY THE GREATEST: EDWARD H. BOHLIN, HOLLYWOOD, CA. With maker's tag and owner's initials "CRS" on the back, (possibly the Western Star Charles Robert Starrett (1902-1986) who made over 165 movies as the "Durango Kid"). Components in tooled black leather, silver and nickel described in an appraisal written by Ed Bohlin himself on Feb 19, 1981, were Saddle (with maker's plate); Tapaderos; Martingale; Bridle; Reins; Bit; Vest & Boots, all with profile Indian Head conchos; Corona (pad); Vest & Boots. Plus, non-Bohlin but similar Serapes & Hip Drops (in nickel). Includes 1981 letter from Bohlin himself, giving a replacement cost of over $39,000. Sadly, leather is now dry, all the silver needs cleaning and polishing. Reins need replacement, some links on drops need repair. Probably for display only. Includes sawhorse but not mannequin.
