PROVENANCE: Hand written note mounted with buckle inscribed " Dec. 1966 Belt Buckle of the "Flint union Blues," a regiment organized and drilled by my maternal grandfather Col. Alvin Townsend Crosman at the time of the Civil War. Margaret Pratt Claflin." This patriotic society was organized in 1872 to raise money to maintain a militia in Flint, Michigan.
