18TH/19TH C. JEWELED CROWN18th - 19th C. jeweled crown, silver repoussé with gold vermeil, Spanish Colonial, 11.5" x 28.5". Crowns of this type were worn by life-size painted wooden icons, such as a Madonna figure, in church settings. Dressing icons in luxurious clothing and jewels signified the spiritual wealth of the community.

CROWN JEWEL TINS COLLECTION c. 1915 Lithographed tinplate. Comprising two jewel encrusted embossed crowns. The first with wide ermine trim and shaped band surrounding red velvet trimmed in gold lift off lid the second for Pearcks Butter & Tea of red velvet with lift off lid centering a handle in the form of a cross. Together with a casket form candy tin by John Buchanan Bros. Scotland elaborately embossed sides with scrolls and inset jewels framing scenes of richly attired medieval troubadours and maidens.
