A Civil War Style Sword and ScabbardA Civil War Style Sword and Scabbard The 42"L sword in a metal scabbard is in the form of a sword made for the Confederacy and retailed by Courtney & Tennant of Charleston SC. This sword is stamped on one side with "CSA" in a rectangle (Confederate States of America) and "Courtney & Tennant Charleston SC" within a rectangle on the opposite side of the blade. It is also stamped with "R" on the edge of the blade and on the end of the guard. The sword is slightly ill-fit in the scabbard and each portion of metal reacts to a magnate. No maker's marks were found.

(Confederate State Army) On the front, and three cast brass hooks on the reverse. Two of the hooks have been partially removed, while the main hook is pressed flat. The belt plate has been examined and authenticated by a respected dealer and authority, John Sexton, whose full report is included. Dimensions: 2.75 inches by 2.875 inches/ 71.2 by 49 mm, 2.3 oz. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
Very good as excavated, with the two hooks partially removed, and the central hook crushed flat. The belt plate has a rich, dark patina, with a little dirt remaining in spots along rim, and in the letters. An excellent example of this scarce and desirable belt plate.
