THREE UNION CDVS WITH YOUTHFUL
THREE UNION CDVS WITH YOUTHFUL SITTERS The first depicts Governor William Sprague, IV of Rhode Island in a militia uniform, the image with no backmark; the second and third CDVs could very well represent a couple, his a military portrait with a Campbell & Ecker, Louisville, KY backmark, while her picture carries an F. Clapsadel, Painesville, Ohio backmark, both with Internal Revenue tax stamps. Curiously, a junior officer's cdv exists from Painesville that shows a sitter who looks much like the young man here, but from a different angle. Perhaps they are one in the same person.

SAKTI BURMAN (indian b. 1935)
SAKTI BURMAN (indian b. 1935) THREE MUSICIANS Signed 'SAKTI BURMAN' bottom right, pen, ink and watercolor on paper 18 x 22 7/8 in. (45.7 x 58.1cm) ,000-5,000 Matted, framed. Executed on paper laid on card. The paper with "J-ANNONAY" watermark across the bottom. There are areas in the sheet with visible, very pronounced puckering/rippling (i.e. caused by paper being unevenly laid to card, with small pockets of space gathered between the sheet and backing card). As a result of the ''puckering,'' the sheet does not lie flat. We note an approximate 3/8 inch-long possible tear in sheet above left-most musician''s head. There is an approximate 3/4 inch-long tear and an approximate 1/4 inch-long tear in parts of right-most musician''s head. (Since sheet is laid down, it is difficult to determine with certainty that these are actual tears).
