Note: Destin Florida was founded c. 1845-50 by Captain Leonard Destin; it remained a small fishing village for over a century. In the 1970s extensive development brought an influx of tourists changing the character as well as the skyline of Destin. Here Holzhauer depicts the shore as it looked before development.
