Emil Eugene Holzhauer (Georgia/Florida 1887-1986) "A New Destin Begins" oil on masonite signed and dated "1960" lower left titled and bearing "The Arts Center Okaloosa-Walton Community College Niceville Florida" label en verso 24 in. x 36 in. framed. Note: Destin Florida was founded c. 1845-50 by Captain Leonard Destin; it remained a small fishing village for over a century. In the 1970s extensive development brought an influx of tourists changing the character as well as the skyline of Destin. Here Holzhauer depicts the shore as it looked before development.
